Rainbow Over Slave Quarters by cwbill

Rainbow Over Slave Quarters

This photo was taken near Francis Bay on St. John USVI. This building was a former slave quarter and later purchased by a former slave after slavery was abolished in 1848. This former slave went on to be a large landowner on the island. Today we were fortunate enough to have a rainbow when we arrived.
Nicely timed, great composition on the shot.

what lovely rainbow you captured. most of the time, the sky would be covered in dark clouds but this has mostly blue skies to show off the colours. aces! and what a story about the structure.

Great sky and rainbow and capture of this ( not nice) historical building.
Many old dikes have trees alongside. The roots strengthen the body and protect it from the erosion of wind and rain. Likewise the grass.

Nice shot of the rainbow. I am willing to bet that the building has been updated a few times since built, it looks pretty slick now.
