My wife and I were hiking out of Havasu Canyon on this July day in 2012 when it began to rain. We were committed to hiking out so we kept going.
About 5 miles into the 10 mile hike we heard what sounded like a freight train coming down the canyon. We heeded the warning and got to higher ground and out of harms way. This is normally a completely dry canyon but at this time there were 7 waterfalls that had developed.
This is an experience which I will never forget. It was a situation which came very close to being life threatening.
@ankers70, luckily I had my tripod with me so I could get a decent shot. It was very low light so had to do a very slow shutter. When I took this we were in a safe place. I wish my camera would have handled with low light situation better so I could have captured the water raging. It was an amazing experience.
