High Point by daffodill

High Point

Today was the first day of our week in Yorkshire.
We awoke to blue skies, so decided to head for Whitby.
While travelling over the moors the skies darkened,
but we continued on, and the skies brightened once more as we neared the coast.
We started off at the Abbey, before moved round to the other side of town in a failed attempt to reduce the climb down into the town. This shot was taken from the church yard looking up river.
Unfortunately all the parking in the centre of Whitby was taken, as many others obviously had the same idea as us.
My daughter examined the famous whale bone arch, donated by Captain Cook, and pronounced it to be made of wood.
Lunch was taken, belatedly in an award winning Fish & Chip Restaurant. I had lemon Sole :)
When we finally reached the beach, I did paddle in the sea, despite the chilliness of the North Sea! A beautiful day :)

Oooh - it's ages since I've been to Whitby - I love it. And I love the fish & chip restaurants that give you a plate of bread and butter and a cup of tea - it reminds me of childhood teas a home!
