Serenity Doesn't Last! by daffodill

Serenity Doesn't Last!

Earlier in the day I glanced out of the window a briefly admired some grey clouds against the trees and thought no more of it, not even pausing to take a picture...
A few minutes later and the heavens opened!
I walked out of work to discover a huge pool of water outside the vestry door.
Fortunately it was flowing away.
Unfortunately it was flowing away down the basement stairs....
I phoned the Churchwarden and asked if it was normal for water to flow into the basement,
He assured me that it was, and explained that when there is sufficient water a pump kicks in and sends it back to the drainage channel. On this occasion, however the quantity of water was sufficient that when the pump kicked in, the water flowed back down the basement stairs....
The water started to abate so I headed home

The heavy rain flooded the road in several places,
I stood for a while waiting for a car to drive through the water,
several created spectacular waves whilst I was the wrong side of the road, but when I crossed over and waited, all the cars driving on that side of the road were boringly circumspect in their navigation of the water hazard.
I did get this shot though :)
That's funny - normally you'd be saying, 'How rude' when drivers do this but when you have a 365 shot in mind it's, 'Come on get on with it!' Brilliantly caught and glad the church knows what to do with water!

well done for doing that - I tried to get a police car doing that through one of our regular puddles and the camera decided it needed new batteries and then was too wet to work earlier this year (it dried out) - that rain was horrible - we got it on Thursday night
