Unfamiliar Familiar by daffodill

Unfamiliar Familiar

This morning I headed over to St. John's for the early morning (9.00am) prayer meeting - something I only get to go to once every six or 8 weeks. Afterwards I popped into the Toddler group to make final arrangements for Crafty Church on Saturday.

I took this photo as I waited for the bus. This junction is so familiar to me, as I grew up in one of the adjacent roads. It is so familiar, yet so unfamiliar. Until the crossing point was put in the bus stop was south of the junction, outside the shop. The houses opposite are relatively modern - maybe 10 years old - before that there was a factory making parts for the aircraft industry. The factory ahead is where my Father and sister both worked for many years. Now most of the buildings have gone. In the few minutes that I was stood there, there was a constant stream of people into the shop and I watched as there was a delivery of goods.

It's quite strange looking at something familiar from a different perspective. Before you didn't see the buses until they were almost upon you, now you can see further.
I love the composition of this photo . . and the comment that goes with it. We lived in England for three years when my husband was stationed at RAF Lakenheath. I love that country and the people. This scene is "unfamiliar yet familiar" to me from the memories that I have at that time. Great color tone and fabulous sky . . so England!! :)
