Three Times A Lady

It's snowdrop season so we headed to Birlingham churchyard, famous for its spring bulbs. The snowdrops were beautiful, the crocus need another week or so to be at their best. We admired the beautiful church, with the goldfish bowl styled lights, two tone arches, and person size angel.
The church gate has a lovely arch, part of the church removed during a makeover at some point in its history. I was busy taking photos of the arch, the cross and the seat round the tree, when a man, with a dog, stopped to make sure we knew that the churchyard had been on the telly. A woman with walking stick and rucsac strode past. We admired the map on the side of the village hall, admiring the names of the fields. We decided to try & make our way to the river. The route looked simple, just take a left and a right and we should reach the parking area next to the Avon...
After we had been driving a couple of miles, the river was still resolutely 2 fields away. We turned round and took one of the side turnings . To our surprise the woman who passed us at the church was walking ahead. We drove past we past, then the road got muddier and puddlier. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.....the puddles were getting deeper and wider and there was nowhere to turn, so we reversed, passing the woman for the third time. She didn't bat an eyelid, just kept on walking.
We drove back through the village, past men chatting over a garden wall, and a dog roaming loose, who had to be rescued by his owner, bringing a temporary halt to the discussions over the garden boundary. We negotiated the abandoned Landrover, owned by owner of 'rover', and met a woman who thought she owned the lane and was rather astounded to find 2 other vehicles to negotiate.
"Not used to traffic jams in Birlingham!" she shouted, as she passed. We figured that maybe we were one car too many for the village, and went to find the river, where we knew it would be, at Eckington Bridge.
Perfect title for your story. Your stories are so well written. I always feel like I'm on the adventures with you. Beautiful pic! That road does look a little rough. :0)
