When I saw this reflection in the alley mud puddle, I saw more than just an utility pole. What I saw in my mind was how utilities have changed in my lifetime. The old blue glass insulators have been replaced by more sophisticated ceramic ones. The old lines have often been replaced by fiber optic cables. In places, these cables run underground instead of being strung from pole to pole. I wonder if all of this will become obsolete in the future. What will replace today's utility poles?
We never did poles . Did dig the cables into the ground. To day`s cable are made of fiber glass instead of copper . And what`s brand new? We have to pay taxes for the cable to the city counsel because the ground is hers
