Ready to garden

I am experimenting with still life and lighting for still lifes. These hats are my favorite gardening hats.
I like the lighting, good detail in the shadow. the bright highlights seem. to draw my focus to the rest of the photo.

@jle__ Thanks! I felt like the lighting "came togehter" for me today (after months and months of trying to get the right lighting).

Lovely collection! I think the bright spots on the top of the hat and in the bottom right seem a little too bright, but then it would be hard to get enough light down on the shovel. (Do you have a reflector?)

Love your cheery cherry hat! Oh to be able to garden! We're supposed to get 4 to 9 more inches of snow tomorrow!

@archaeofrog Thanks for your comments. No, I don't have a reflector yet. I can see where a reflector would have helped this shot. I wanted to take this in the morning light, but only had the time to take this in the afternoon. The morning light would have been less stark. Things for me to think about. What kind of reflector do you use?

@olivetreeann Thanks! I have spring fever, but it is definitely winter here.

@daisymiller I have one of those five-in-one types that fills down from a large circle into a smaller circle. For a small subject like this, you could probably use a sheet of white paper or poster board too.

Great head still lives. Nice heads. I think I`ve never seen a head still live painting before. Very creative.
Thank you for the fav. I`m very pleased with it.

@pyrrhula Thanks! I made a still life with the hats, because I did not like the other photos I made of them.
