The squirrel and the acorn by daisymiller

The squirrel and the acorn

One of the front yard squirrels came down out of its oak tree in search of acorns today during a heavy snow storm. In the color version, the orangish brown oak tree leaves were a little distracting. I like the BW version better due to this and other reasons. The textures and the detiails of the tree and the squirrel come out better in black and white. I can even see the hair standin on end on the squirrel's back and the squirrel's whiskers in this version. The background (leaves, branches, and sky) fade more in the black and white version. This photo sold me on the value of black and white.
Squirrel whiskers, what a crazy thing! I really like your reflection and insights into this image. It is very, very cool in BW.

You have definitely demonstrated how well black and white can work to your advantage when the background is busy. The details are great! Good shot!!
