Blue Jay Portrait

This is one of the blue jay pair who visit the bird feeder. They take turns getting food from the feeder. One jar flies to the feeder, grabs one sunflowerseed and then quickly flies off. They are really fast! I was able to capture this blue jay as it perched on the shepherd hook holding the feeder.

I took this shot and then processed it for the black and white photography book club. I am still working on light/dark contrasts this week. I feel like I have learned a lot about black and white photography this month.
Nice shot! You got a lot of details on his feathers which is hard to do!

@olivetreeann Thanks! I am trying to capture the feather detail. I shoot my bird pictures through a window, so this is difficult for me to accomplish. I am glad the details came through this time.

@pyrrhula Thank you. This blue jay does seem like it wants to pose a littlle. At the same time, it tries to avoid having its picture taken.
