The Old Season Passes by daisymiller

The Old Season Passes

I am hoping that the old season of Winter has passed and that Spring is here to stay. Today, I cleared out the dried plant stalks out of the flower beds. I left these plant stalks mainly to provide cover for the birds in the winter. The birds did seem to like the shelter of the plant stalks. I liked the plant stalks because they provided countless photo opportunities. It was difficult to say farewell to the plant stalks today, but the flower beds look much better and even look springlike without the old plant stalks.

Macro 4 continues. I decided to move away from my macro bucket list for the next three days. In the last days of March, I hope to capture the transition into Spring. Then, I hope to do a month of abstracts in April.
How kind of you to think of the winter birds...and you reap the benefit of great photo opps. Well done.

Plants are amazing when they can look beautiful in full bloom or as they fade away. These are very pretty!

I really like these plants - and like you, they've had their fair share of photo ops! Nicely detailed shot.

I never clean up my garden before early spring. Those old seasons passes are also good for covering the soil and for shelter for insects the birds love ( if they can find ans catch them.) Great capture , pov . and a beautiful lighting of this nice pic.

@deu49097 Thanks! Leaving the plant stalks up this winter allowed for photo opportunities with the birds and with the plant stalks.

@pyrrhula Thank you for your comments. I did notice some insects when we cleared the plant stalks away. Hopefully, I was able to save some insects. Lots of the insects died due to the harsh winter conditions.
