July 9: The New Smith Cotton High

This is the "new" Smith Cotton High School. I think it opened in 2010, but I may be off a year one way or the other. Not all of the buildings in my city are old, even though I have been showing mostly older buildings. This is the newest public school building in my district. the building shows contemporary architecture with its concrete walls with some brick on the exterior.

The school building is long. I was unable to show the whole building in one shot. Therefore, I took three shots. The left hand photo shows the main entrance to the building. The top right hand photo shows the performing arts wing. The bottom right hand photo shows the gymnasium. I figured out a way to show most of the building in one photo. However, an incidence made me leave the parking lot. A tractor was pulling a mower. The mower hit a rock, approximately fifteen inches across. The rock flew through the air and landed on the sidewalk behind me. The driver stopped the tractor, picked up his phone and glared at me. I decided it was time to leave. That was enough phoot taking excitement for today.
Well documented.

Quite a contrast with yesterday's shot. How big is your town? That's a pretty impressive new school they've built. And yes, watch out for those mowers! The city has finally talked to the summer high school mowing crew to remind them to watch for walkers on the trails when they're mowing so it's gotten a little better here.

@milaniet On the last census, my city was reported as having a little over 20,000 residents. I think we are up to 23,000 people. It is a small city in a rural area, but there are a lot of city features here. The school district was blessed to have money donated to cover the complete construction of the performing arts center. This center is quite an asset to the community.

@olivetreeann A local business woman donated the money for the performing arts wing. It is a great performing arts center and is an asset to the community.

@maggiemae It is plain on the outside and on the inside. The lockers are painted in school colors which help spiff up the building. The interior entrance area and the library are really good looking places inside the school. Of course, the performing arts center looks really good.

@daisymiller That's great!! As one who was artistic and spent a lot of time in the art department in high school, there were many of us who felt slighted when the football team got more recognition and more funds.
