January 2: Frozen by daisymiller

January 2: Frozen

I walk my dog by a puddle in an alley. I pause when we reach the puddle, because the puddle seems like a piece of living art. The puddle sometimes partialy thaws in the afternoon sunlight. The puddle refreezes over night. There are designs and color variations in the ice. When vehicles drive through the puddle, even more patterns form in the ice. Yesterday, the puddle was mostly covered by tree leaves. Today, only a handful of leaves were scattered across the surface of the ice. Since this frozen puddle fascinates me so, I am beginning to wish that the puddle will remain through the winter and not dry up.
Interesting leaf in the ice.

What neat textures here - don't you like finding a touch of color like this?

love the texture here

Love the idea of a puddle being a work of art. YES!

You are seeing the puddle as an artist would! Maybe you will be photographing those changes that you see each day. This shot is very artistic and you've composed it really well. I like the splash of color the leaf provides.

Looks very cold Daisy, lovely shot.

Gorgeous! Love the bright pop of color from the leaf. Would be a cool series to keep returning and shooting it as it changes.

A great ``minimal`` capture

so pretty

@morrisphotos I thought the leaf was interesting too. I am not certain where the leaf came from, as none of the nearby trees had leaves like this one.

@milaniet Thanks. I was surprised to see a leaf with this color. Most of the leaves in this puddle are brown.

@carlt Thanks

@sfeldphotos Thanks. Normally, the ice does not have as much texture as it did yesterday.

@deu49097 Thanks. I think this puddle is a natural work of art. I have grown to appreciate the puddle. I think the drivers of the vehicles who drive through the puddle do not appreciate the beauty of the puddle.

@olivetreeann Thanks for giving me the idea of phtoographing the puddle each day. I do not know if I will be able to do this every day, but it will be fun to make a series of photos of this puddle (as long as the puddle does not dry up).

@eyesmile Thank you.

@tonygig Thanks. I am trying to portray "winter" this month.

@archaeofrog Thanks. Through your suggestion and suggestions from others, I am planning on taking a series of photos of the puddle until it dries up.

@pyrrhula Thanks. I tried even more minimal shots by photographing the ice itself. I found that the photos needed that leaf.

@lynnz Thanks.

@daisymiller Even the process of it drying up (if it takes more than a day or two) could be interesting to capture. I'll look forward to seeing what you come up with.

@daisymiller Awesome! Can't wait to see them.

Love the contrast between the coloured leaf and the ice. Very pretty.
