Storm clouds 1

Even though these clouds did not bring severe weather, this scene came too close to home for the long time residents of my city. On May 4, 1977, a F4 tornado traveled diagonally through my city. Four elementary schools were in the path of the tornado. Only one received major damage. This school had its roof ripped off. The school was moved off its foundation several feet. 1,500 people were left homeless. 150 houses were destroyed and 300 were damaged. Some of the factories had to close for repairs. The tornado caused 20 million dollars of damage. I moved to this city in the decade after the tornado hit the city. Every time the skies get stormy, people tell tales of the 1977 tornado. Here is one of the many stories I have heard. One woman did not have a basement in her house. She could not remember where she was supposed to take shelter. She went to an area of her house that was not recomended as a shelter. If she had gone to the designated shelter area for her house, she would have been killed. To this day, she shakes in fear when the skies cloud up.
P.S. Storm clouds is the photo club theme for June. I am kind of hoping that I don't have many chances to take shots for this theme.
I can see where storm clouds could scare you in that area - imagine that's how most of the area around Oklahoma City must feel - we've had an easier spring that usual - hope it continues through the weekend.

I'm hearing about tornados near Oklahoma at the moment, Daisy! This sky looks as if it holds some rain but not a tornado! Imagine being with your camera as one came towards you!

A dramatic sky, I like how the image is made up mainly of the dark clouds.

I have family in Oklahoma and a very dear friend in Missouri, and now quite a few 365 friends in Indiana and other Plains states. Every time I hear about the storms now I go through a list of many names for safety and protection in my prayers! I would never want to get caught in one. I have driven past homes that were damaged by tornadoes and it is still inconceivable even when you're looking at it! I don't blame you for not wanting too many opportunities for your club theme this time around! Good shot.
