Leaf of House Plant by daisymiller

Leaf of House Plant

To me, plant life is very complex. I have been trying to get simple compositions this week. One way is to isolate the subject from the background. In this case, I did not want to bend the rest of the houseplant leaves away from this one, which was being highlighted by the sunlight. I kept moving around and ended up using the shadows to isolate the rest of the leaves, but ended up with the window curtain in the shot. My quest to shoot simple compositions continues.
Beautiful tones and smooth leathery textures in the leaf image Love how you have caught the light on the leaf ad the way it exaggerates the veins in it !

I actually think the curtain makes it a little more interesting. The leaf is still isolated by the added texture of the curtain is a nice contrast.

The curtain with its patterns gives some added interest in this shot. Great light and shadows capture.

@olivetreeann I agree about the curtain. The lines are similar to the leaf, but the pattern differentiates it. Due to the lines and low key, it forces you to take a closer look at the leaf.
