Lens

This 18-200 mm lens has been my principle lens since I got my DSLR several years ago. I love the versitility, but I've been meaning to branch out, so I picked up a 50 mm prime lens a month or so back. I'm really enjoying the narrow DOF it can give and it works soooo much better in low light. I definitely see why it's called the "nifty fifty".
Where did you get your 18-200? I really want one for the fact that it is so versatile.

Nice shot! I'm thinking about a 50mm to add to my collection for my up coming trip. I have the 24-120 and the 80-400 but I would like a prime lens for portraits of my grand children while I'm visiting with them.

@jayslife @k1w1 - thanks for the comments.

Jason - I got my 18-200 bundled with my camera body when I purchased it from National Camera ( http://www.natcam.com/) several years ago. I'm really happy with it. The vibration reduction is excellent so usually get nice sharp pictures even when I'm hand held at 200mm.

Christine - I thought the prime lens was really nice for portraits over the holidays. The 50 mm does have more magnification than I thought on my camera. You might want to consider a 35 mm which from what I've been told should be more "what I see"
