I happened upon the same tree where I took a photo last week (link below). I found TWO birds out scouting their territory. I guess one is an Egret and I am not sure what the other is. Hawk, maybe? I couldn't get any closer, a canal was between us. The other photo has more drama, but it's nice to see a comparison, a different time of day. http://365project.org/danette/365/2012-08-15
Looks like an ibis of some kind and an osprey, but hard to tell. Can't make it any bigger in magnifying. The only link you need here is the one at the top in the address bar, not your copy and paste code.
@lynnb The other day, it was definitely an ibis, but I was thinking this beak looked straighter. I couldn't even tell on the other making it bigger with my own computer. Thanks for correcting my link and your comments!
I have my favourite trees that I photograph over and over. I am always intrigued how different they can look from alternate angles or at either end of the day. Love the bare branches against the blue of the sky, here, and the touch of green at the top.
Another score with the same tree, cool! I don't know, I love the other shot, but I really like the bright sky in this one, too, I'd have a hard time calling one better than the other!
@clmiller I must be partial to silhouettes, too, which is why it must have caught my eye.
@bardejov Yes, there is a lake right below the tree. I am sure it gives a great vantage point!
@travelingcamper Thanks for noticing the clouds! They were pretty low on the horizon.
@purdey Thanks so much for your kind words! This tree is definitely out of my general area, but it will always be in my mind when I am anywhere nearby. I have a few close-by favorites that I have never been able to capture because of their locations. I always like to hear other stories like yours.
@ariel817 Linda, yes, I took this one because it was so different from the other with the blue sky. Thanks for your comments!
