Took a walk across the street to shoot a tree (clouds were amazing!). Then I saw this woodpecker. Do you think it's a baby? He didn't stay around long for me to fiddle with my settings, so it isn't the sharpest. It was pretty dark in the preserve.
@vesna0210@ianwm54@bardejov@sonibear He (?) was down in the fronds. Wondering if his nest was down there. He did fly about a bit, but short distances. The bits of red made me think he isn't female, but a baby. I would have liked better clarity, but there was no time and he was a surprise for me!
@lindaagne365 He was actually on a branch before, in more shadows, so I had to look for him, then he flew to this spot, closer even! I didn't move, so maybe I didn't scare him. He was fluttering about a lot, I guess trying out those new wings.
