Coincidentally, today's word is "celebration". Tonight is our annual Christmas (holiday) parade and the kick-off to our city's 50th anniversary celebration. Yes, we are really only 50 years old. And I have been here since almost the beginning! A modern day pioneer! For whatever reason, they chose Bugs Bunny to be the parade marshall.
While I don't love the collage, I chose these photos because:
Upper left: a local Methodist church does a "Bethlehem Revisited" which is phenomenal. You feel like you are back in biblical times, while wandering around this "marketplace".
Lower left: One of the floats I liked.
Center: There were many kids in the parade--boy scouts, girl scouts, elementary schools. This church group showed the group all in movement except the girl in the middle.
Lower middle: The decorated golf carts were fun.
Lower right: My son's girlfriend (blonde) went out to this group of kids because she teaches them.
Upper right: Of course, this was the lead float.
@anzere03 I look forward to the parade every year. It's somewhat of a family tradition. My oldest son, who protested some years, would not miss it now. He took off work early to beat the traffic (two of the busiest streets in town are blocked off at 5:00, traffic is horrendous). We always grab a burger at Checker's and sit right there in the median. The route is about 1.5 miles. All the local bands (at least 8) were here tonight. Both our boys were in band for a bit and marched in the parade. Good memories!
@lynnb Thanks, Lynn. It was the best one I have seen them do. It started on time, all the entries were right after the next and it was full of people!
@bkbinthecity Thank you so much!
@vesna0210 Thanks, Vesna!
