Gorgeous shot, Danette! And btw, Georgia Southern is a good school - my girlfriend's daughter went there for her first two years and loved it.

@soboy5 Thanks, Danny. Why'd she leave? That's the thing I hear. One of our pastors graduated from there.

Spectacular colors. I need to get this plant , especially since it's such a early bloomer.

@bardejov You won't need many. When the flowers go to seeds, it is like a dandylion and they easily blow in the breeze. I find them in other areas of the yard, but tend to leave them. Also, once they flower, cut the stakls way back to get new growth. Butterflies love them. So do aphids!

Thanks for your nice comments. I love these buds. It seems they bloom quickly, which is why I chose the buds on this day, rather than the flowers.

Are there different types of milkweed? I don't think I have ever seen thee red buds on the ones grown in the north. I don't know if I have missed seeing them at that stage. Does this variety(?) develop to have the green teardrop shaped pods?

@skipt07 Hmmm...I don't know the different varieties. Yes, it has a green tear shaped pod. I will probably post a photo of the flower tomorrow. This stage is quite brief.
