These are a pair of my dad's boots. You can see they he wore them often, but not recently. We cleaned out his closet yesterday and donated many of his clothes to the Men's Wearhouse suit drive. These boots I gave to my youngest son. My dad had given him his other boots a few years back. My son is much like my dad. They had a special bond.
One of the preachers who spoke at my dad's service spoke about leaving a legacy. He knew my dad the best of most anyone. He said my dad's thumbprint is all over town. It was an excellent service with many people who assisted me.
To me leaving legacies is so very important. I've always felt that we must keep the memories alive of our loved ones - both family and friends. Every day I see the memories of them in my home and it always makes me smile. How nice that your son will now wear these boots that your dad wore many years. You captured them so beautifully in this shot.....great tones and detail. Fav!
Danette it sounds like your Dad was an amazing person. Leaving a legacy is so important. I used to work for Men's Warehouse here in Edmonton and that is a great cause.
Oh, I am sorry to hear of your loss. I was just browsing from one commenter to another and found this shot. It is very eye catching with that clean white background. I lost my dad 7 years ago...I understand. And he had left his mark on our small town..It makes you feel GOOD that they had good effects on so many and so many liked them.
Beautiful description of your Dad. He sounds like he was a very upstanding and well-thought of person in your community. I think it was a wise decision to give your son the boots. Hopefully he'll think of him every time he puts them on. Very good capture of the sentimental gift.
Thank you all for your kind words. I apologize for not being very wordy at this time in my life. Sorting through all the emotions that I didn't expect. I appreciate each one of you.
