I have never painted furniture before. This is an "experimental" piece. I am trying to repurpose some furniture. I used chalk paint, since it seemed to be the easiest. Something (not the original finish) is bleeding through. I have tried Kilz. I have sanded it down to the bare wood. Now, I have coated it again (one area with chalk paint, another with Kilz). So far, I am not sure! Maybe I will have to go with a darker color paint. I had hoped to paint some of the pieces white, though. :-( Any suggestions appreciated.
It seems like there would also be a bunch of places on web you could ask. Maybe this one just isn't going to work that well and you made to start fresh with another? I dunno. Do you like the distressed look? Maybe that would work.
am not sure but i think after U sanded it,you have to prime it then paint-i used red acrylic SPRAY paint on my coffee table-u have to do it outdoor cus' of the strong chemical smells.Check You Tube for instructional videos or Home Depot/Loews sales clerk can advised U--good luck :)
@creativeaddict@joemuli Thanks! Yes, doesn't get very cold in S Florida! I did spray paint a little statue today. The furniture is getting there. Looking much improved! I had thought about spray paint, but wasn't looking for a contemporary finish. Also worried about runs, in case of mistakes.
What a fun project! I know nothing about it, so can't be of any help but looking forward to the progress and finished product! This shot makes it look like a neat piece you're working with to start.
