Re-editing some old photos into b&w. Thought it would be interesting to see something so colorful (with a bright blue sky) in b&w. It was early morning with very harsh lighting. Feedback welcome.
Wow! Like you, I would have thought something this colorful might not work, but good for you for giving it a try! I think it works wonderfully well! (I just copied t into PS & tried a "threshold treatment", but no go...this is perfect! And a nice 2/3 rd 1/3rd composition!)
@Weezilou Since I don't do PS, what is a "threshold treatment"? I did crop some buildings out of this one and I liked the negative space on the right. I used a few LR presets (actually maybe one) but I experimented with many to see what happens with the different color filters. So much to learn!
@danette don't have LR, but I suspect if you google LR and Threshold, you could find that technique there. t crates a stark B&W image (as I did with the tree branches and the birds...it makes a silhouette, in effect.) So MANY choices for all of us...and it's fun to see everyone's interpretations!
@kwind I never imagined I'd be there. It is even better than you'd think. This was Valentines Day, I don't think their major balloon festival. But, oh, so many gorgeous balloons. I had no idea the effort it took to launch. What an incredible experience!
@danette The big one is the first week of October. Some day I'll go. It's good to know it's even better in person. I have such high expectations I don't want to be let down.
