Meet the Limpkin family

We were in the park last night when I saw the parents. When they started making noise, I figured there were also babies. Taken with my Samsun S7 Edge.

@pennystot They are found in wetland areas from Florida to northern Argentina. I think they are on the endangered list. I only learned of them a few years back.

oh SWEET BABIES! I saw some cross the road the other day and didn't have my camera! Shame on me! I'm so glad you saw them and got it!

@moreyoulessme I've never seen babies! I saw one Limpkin, then another, so I went over to take their picture when they tasted fussing at me. I knew that meant there must be babies in the rushes. They really protected them, then I got this picture when they swam off.

What a great find...such adorable little babies. They look like ducklings at this stage.

Sounds like a great title for a sitcom. I imagine a Caspar Milquetoast type character playing Mr. Limpkin.

@skipt07 Ha! They are given that name because they look like they walk with a limp!

@chard I imagine they are relatively long. I had never seen babies before. I was reading they are adult size at 7 weeks and leave the nest at 16 weeks.
