Having our roof cleaned this morning apparently brought out the slugs.

oh yuk! I hat slugs. We have big Tiger slugs that sometime sneak into the house at night after the lights are out and are gone by morning but leave their sticky trails. We have just had our roof cleaned but luckily no slugs. Your looks huge
