No, not for me! Thought I would go see what fun the college students were having out on Ft. Lauderdale beach. The police on horseback were trying to get them to disburse. The sun was setting and alcohol was freely flowing...the night not even started. Several cruise ships in the background leaving Port Everglades.
OMG! I would SO not have wanted my girls to have gone, and they never did! I can only imagine the passing years have made it worse and worse, but then I'm a bit of a cynic...
Too crowded for me too. I prefer my beaches quiet. Why are they being moved on though? If they ate behaving themselves and just having a fun time . . . 😊
@bill_fe The kids roam to different areas. After the mid-80's, I believe, they were NOT welcome in Ft. Lauderdale. They have since come back in smaller crowds. When in high school, I would sometimes wander down there, but not in college. At the time, the risk seemed high.
@Weezilou You would have not been pleased with the display we saw at a stop sign (we were walking) when a few girls got out and made some very suggestive moves. Other than that, many were well behaved.
@peterday@paul10 We were down the beach and saw this huge crowd (this is a very small portion), so I walked down to see what was happening. They were making a lot of noise, so something must have been going on. The police are there to keep order. They are allowed anywhere as long as they behave. Most were tossing footballs and having a good time.
@leananiemand Oh, they were having fun! They are allowed on the beach, but I think this crowd was having some issue happening and it needed to be broken up.
@pamknowler It is a right of passage. Much of the US college population descends upon various areas of Florida (fortunately we have many beaches) over a number of weeks. Though I never partook as a college student, it is where they leave their brains at home and party for however many days.
