Historic Butler House by danette

Historic Butler House

South Florida is very young, even by USA standards. The Butlers arrived in Deerfield Beach around 1920. They spent $10,000 building this house. They owned quite a lot of farmland. When it was sold in 1978, it was worth more than $3 million. They use the money for scholarships for Deerfield Beach HS students. My house, many miles to the west from this house, is built on farmland they once owned.
Beautiful house

@lynnz The house itself is owned by the Historic Society. It was the farmland that was sold. I live about 8 miles from the house and live on land they once owned.

So interesting reading the background - a wonderful story. And you captured it well in a strong composition.

Real Estate homes and property always seems to be a good investment if you can hold onto it for a long time...also location, location, location! My childhood home was built on a VA loan of $12,000, an addition was added later. it has only had one other owner and is now worth over 2+ million! My dad sold it for $68,000 in the 70's and was tickled pink at the time!
