Barefoot Mailman by danette

Barefoot Mailman

From 1885 to 1892, mail from West Palm Beach to Miami was carried by foot along the beach. It was a 6-day 136 mile round trip. This memorial was dedicated to one of these mailmen, Ed Hamilton, who presumably drowned while trying to cross the Hillsboro Inlet, where this lighthouse is located.

Three-in-one photo as I also captured some planes from the nearby air show!
Great sculpture! I like how you've composed this!

Wow! What a fascinating piece of history!!! Can anyone imagine making that trip again and again?! And that was before sunblock! Nice image, Danette! And thanks, too, for your words with my photo...

A wonderful composition. I am glad to know about the clouds, for a minute I thought you were skywriting in PS. Smile.
