Opposite the building I posted yesterday, sits this shopping center. It once was the hub of our new town. It has been so many years since it looked good. I don't know why it declined. Now, it is destined for the wrecking ball to replaced by a mixed use property.
Very sad. Most of our malls shut their doors between 2008 and 2012. No new ones going up. I fear more businesses will close soon - permanently, along with more good doctors offices.
@ludwigsdiana Back in the late 70's, early 80's, a small mall was built across the street (which is now a school). This shopping center, over the years, mostly became offices and such. It's just never been pretty nor well maintained.
@louannwarren We were at our mall yesterday and noticed quite a crowd (considering). There was even a line to get into the Pandora shop. This particular complex has struggled a long time. Over the years, it has mostly become offices.
We just learned of another store in our mall that's closing (nationwide). Brick-and-mortar stores were on the decline anyway, but the Age of Covid has accelerated the pace, methinks. Many, *many* years ago, our regional health care corporation took over what had been one of the anchor store spaces. It's now corporate offices and a breast center.
Great capture of some cool-lookin' clouds!
