We stopped at an island which is an archeological site. But, the gate was locked! Someone had removed the bottom panel of the fencing, so thanks to many sessions of physical therapy, I could actually get through! It was very overgrown, so we stuck to the boardwalk. There is supposed to be a shell mound on the island where the Calusa Native Americans once lived.
Oh my! So you are a rule breaker. Lol! This is lovely, I wonder why the gate was locked? Perhaps to keep would be archeologists from taking artifacts from the mound.
