The University of Tampa uses the old Tampa Bay Hotel, designed by Henry Plant in the 1800s. It was used as a hotel from1891-1932. He wanted to use a distinct architecture and chose Moorish design. The location is on the Hillsborough River, giving prime property! The students love to sunbathe by the river.
"Prime Property" I guess!!! How beautiful! It makes me wonder if the buildings have ever been used as a movie set like the Del Coronado over on the opposite coast?
@Weezilou I don't seem to find where it has been in major movies, but who knows. The building is also home to the Henry Plant Museum and it is beautiful. I have only been once. If I lived there, I would certainly have a membership. https://www.plantmuseum.com/
@danette WOW! THANK YOU for that link! I'm ready to book a ticket and fly down! I looked through "past events" and they all look to have been wonderful!
