On the left is the Intracoastal Waterway in Ft. Lauderdale. Houses along the Intracoastal command many millions of dollars. On the right is seemingly undeveloped land, right in the heart of the City!
We can thank the vision of Hugh Taylor Birch, who purchased 3 miles of beachfront property in 1893 for $3500. Though part of the property was sold in the 1920's land boom, 180 acres was given to the State of Florida to use as a State Park. It is a most beautiful park. It has been years since I have been, so was glad to pop in today. It was an overcast day, so it wasn't crowded.
Taken with my cell phone, as my camera was at home.
