My dad has always told me that this is easy to grow, but takes a long time — over a year. So, last year we planted some, and it grew up fine, and one day every single leaf was eaten by caterpillars.
We left it, though, and amazingly it grew new leaves. Now, 13 months after it was planted, it's finally producing florets. Well done, broccoli plant! :-)
