Ettington Park Hotel - Built in 1824 by Thomas Rickman
After visiting the Stratford-Upon-Avon Butterfly Farm last week, we ended up here at Ettington Park Hotel for afternoon tea. For the princely sum of £18.95 we received a pot of coffee, some scones with cream and jam, sandwiches, pastries, cakes and mini tartlets. Sitting in grand high backed padded chairs and with only an elderly couple with us in the entire room, it was the perfect way to spend the afternoon and end the day.
This hotel is famous for another reason though:
The manor house, which can trace its origins back to the Domesday Book, is now the Ettington Park Hotel owned by the Shirley Family and leased to Hand Picked Hotels, and was featured in MGM's 1963 horror film The Haunting. Ettington Park Hotel is itself renowned as being haunted, and was investigated for the first ever time by Midlands' Ghost Hunt Company 'Eerie Evenings' on 31 October 2009.
I think a night spent here early next year is definitely on the cards.
omg, doggy bag too, I can hardly believe it, Darren!
