Well, I'm looking to start being a portrait photographer, and I'm scouting locations not too far from me that may be a bit abandoned and accessible. A friend of mine who used to be a portrait photographer gave me a hint about where she had taken some of her shots. She gave me a location name, but the coordinates led me here--so this was a big gift. It's hard to find places that you can feel free to explore without permission.
That's probably the one thing I think may be hard about this location. It's pretty deserted on the weekend, and it looks like there are some active businesses in this railyard and old factory building. There's a platform and all kinds of industrial trappings, with pretty reds and blues here and there.
I'm going to experiment with my daughter when the weather is good (it rained as I got out). But I think the lens will do quite nicely!
So going backwards from this one, you can see the setting I hope to pick. For the actual tracks, because that is not a safe options really, I will take a chair to see if I can do something with it, but while I was there, there were some "dead" not-used tracks to the side that I might be able to use.
Anyway, it was an exciting exploration in Canton, GA, about 30 minutes drive from where I am. Plenty of small town stuff also, but I liked these shots most. There are 4 in all.
