Turkey Chili on the Fly by darylo

Turkey Chili on the Fly

I'm everywhere, all over the place in my head, and in my home.

Gutters being replaced, knocks that sound awful, I need to get out for my walk, and I'm arranging some photo shoots (yay), but mostly, I needed to use the afternoon light to get a shot for today. I will be glad when I do not have a food photo every day (February is Food month for me).

This is another one of my zero point meals for WW diet (I've lost 10 pounds!).
I don't have an exact recipe for this. I tend to toss and taste for chili, but the spices are:
Cumin
Chili Powder
Smoked Papkrika
thai chilis
salt
garlic powder

It's made with a pound of ground turkey sauteed first. I add one chopped onion, 1 bell pepper, 1 can of diced tomatoes, 1 small can tomato sauce, 1 small can's worth of water, and all the spices. Bring to boil, cover, reduce heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes. I then add 1 can of any beans I like (black beans here) for the next five minutes.

I often add frozen corn too, but don't have any!

It's a fast, easy fix, and I usually top it with.....wait for it, GREEN SAUCE! And yogurt. haha.

One-pot meals always interest me, but ground turkey is not a thing here. Try with pork perhaps, what do you think ? Nice composition to the photo. Congrats on the 10 lbs.

@laroque if you use ground beef, that's more a traditional chili here. I think slow cooked pork would do very well too. Chicken works well too.

Sounds delicious! Chili is one of my favorites but I have been avoiding meet. I could try it with turkey though. It sounds like it might do the trick. Fabulous photo of your chili with amazing light of course! Thrilled to death to hear about your 10 pounds. What a surprise to hear you put green sauce on it!(now, where is that sarcasm button?)

rather splendid food photography Daryl, how's the coffee table book of prints going?

@grammyn I bet a three bean chili might be good too! And sarcasm button? Hahaha. Believe me, I have done too much with that sauce that I deserve it!

@phil_howcroft ha! I may do one after all!

@darylo actually I don’t mind eating chili with no meat in it at all but my husband likes meat. I’m trying to find something that I can make that we can both eat so I don’t have to cook two separate meals

@grammyn I hear ya! My husband has been very accommodating, even with the tofu I cooked Valentine's Day!! Hahahaha. Will you both eat fish?

Another very tasty looking food capture.

I don't use meat (kind of yucky to touch raw) so if I skip the meat is it still chili -- perhaps a Turkey-less Chili?

@jyokota I'd probably do corn and beans (maybe two types of beans) and bell pepper. With canned diced tomatoes, and a small can of tomato sauce. This recipe looked good but would need to eliminate gatlic/onion and reduced for smaller portion: https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/vegetarian-black-bean-chili-230632

@darylo thanks! On a separate note, I made something so unexpected but delicious today -- Peanutbutter Miso Cookies. From NYT
