What a crazy day. I had to wake up early and make my oatmeal, which I took in the car with me to Gibbs Gardens where I had a morning shoot of two senior sisters (one college, one high school). Their mom, who is a great friend, came too so they wanted to do a setup ala "Bridgerton" from Netflix. What I see are 3 strong women!
On the way back, I convinced them to stop at a now-defunct Amoco gas station (see here: https://365project.org/darylo/didn-t-make-cut/2021-03-30 )where I stupidly left my camera bag sitting near the old gas pumps. I didn't realize it until I got home! My heart sank. But I told myself that it will either be right there or someone will see it with my id tag and call me. I ate a quick lunch and as I fired up the engine, there was a message from a guy named Preston, who saw the bag and called that he had it. So I drove back up to N.Ga. and he met me at the station. He was concerned that the camera was not in bag--that, I did have with me! As I was driving up, I was thinking "I need to give him cash too--don't forget to get it out of the trunk...but it was in the bag!" With my vaccine card, and just about EVERYTHING!
I found everything, insisted he MUST take the $20 for a nice treat for himself and his cute daughter who came with him to meet me.
So crazy day, but lest we get too downhearted about our world, the Prestons of the world will pick you up. He sure was my guardian angel!
I love a happy ending! what an interesting photo shoot of these women. I like the saying "Here's to strong women. May we know them may we be them, may we raise them" It seems to fit this photo. While I am at it I am also reminded ouf your family as an illustration of that quote
First, what an awesome photo - everything is perfect. And secondly, thanks for including the uplifting narrative - it's been too easy for me the past year to forget that there are people like him...it's a nice reminder ♥
I love everything about this photo and your story! (So you do photography professionally? I took some senior photos for a friend and I loved doing it, but not sure I could hang up my shingle.)
@jakb I have been doing professional portraits and I have had my work in some art openings locally--I sell my art portraiture to clients who have a need for wall art! It's my side-hustle to my tutoring business I have operated for 21 years. I hope to switch to photography more--I'm getting weary of the education world. :)
@kali66 given that I am prone to lose shizzizzle all the time, I am one of the luckiest women on the planet. All over the world, I have lost significant items and some nice person either finds me or sends me the item. It makes my heart feel good.
@linnypinny Yes, I need that reminder a lot these days. He was so scared someone had taken the camera--he had no clue the wallet and my two most expensive lenses were in there! haha
