SpiderTree

I went to the soccer fields where my daughter plays a winter 5v5 league--I took three interesting photos and orginally, I thought I would not pick this one, but I love the yellow moss growing on the branch and the tiny red bud that promises spring will bring new growth (too bad it's actually Mid-January, and this type of thing should not be there yet I think).

I'm not sure how to use my lenses well--I have a big zoom on it (don't ask me what distance), and I've been trying to use the manual focus for these shots but no tripod either--so, it's really not great. When I cropped it later, I thought I saw that I captured a spider in the branch too, but it was just an interesting way the branch sprouts out at one end.

My other shots for today were a dandelion in the midst of 3-leaf clovers (another too-early sign of spring), and clovers that were painted with soccer-field paint in a tester area. The blue is neat, but I could not make it pop when I tried to edit it.

I am going to start reading about aperture, shutter speed and ISO this week. I'm determined that I willl start controling more of the shots. I'm going to spend one day using a tripod too, and I really want to see what kind of food shots I can make that really pop! I loved reading on the discussion boards some advice there. This site is so inspiring.
