Today, I had the wonderful experience of driving from one side of Nebraska to another. My driver was patient with my desire to take photos every step of the way. When a hawk appeared on a telephone pole, she stopped. When a chicken crossed the road, she stopped. When we passed a farm of Yaks, she stopped. Such a wonderful trip we had!
My favorite shot came from Elizabeth's suggestion that I capture snow drifts on the side of the road, and I have to say that they are much like sand dunes, but the pure white of the snow makes the shadows and the skies illuminate in ways I have never experienced.
Our drive lasted over six hours, but I fell in love with the Nebraska landscape, wildlife, and wonderful expanse. Every town had an impressive water tower too! Many thanks to my dear friend Elizabeth for her patience and company on this drive to Chadron. Tomorrow, onto another wonderful state campus--the campus where I teach (just in Georgia). A lovely, memorable day.
