Rained out soccer games and a visit to one of our favorite places to eat: Taco Mac. Flowers and Birds theme ends today (like who am I kidding, right?). Instead of going out in the rain, I'm documenting the fading henna flower tattoo my daughter received on her Orlando trip with the band (one of the musician assistants is a henna artist!).
Did this in mono and loved it. Rainy days means nap time! One last week of teaching and then I'm officially not teaching until Fall again--can't wait.
@spair It was pretty funny because I took my camera to lunch thinking, "oh, I'll find something inside--it's too yucky outside to get anything." I even asked my daughter what she thought I would take and then I said, "Oh, I'll take some shots of you"--then ah,ha! the tattoo is flowers! Bingo. I usually obscure my kids faces in photos for things that are public, so this was a little posed that way.
Amazing portrait - seems really spontaneous, which adds to the beauty of it! Love the b&w too! And that henna tattoo is amazing - I never thought of having a real tattoo, but this is probably a nice way to satisfy my curiosity :)
@lunaksi I don't want anything very permanent, but I have some friends with the most amazing full-sleave tattoos--great on them--would just look stupid on me. I do love a henna tattoo, though, so I can have the thrill of a tattoo, but for just a little while. :)
Do I remember correctly you and I got a temporary tattoo at the Lilith Festival a very long time ago? I love the shot of my granddaughter's flowered arm!
@darylo Yep, that might work for me too! Henna tattoo offers nice and temporary change of looks - something I really appreciate :) Might even give it a try this summer, who knows... I didn't have enough courage to do it when I was 15 years younger, so maybe now a discreet one would suit me just fine...
Lovely. Henna? When we were kids we used to pick the leaves from the hedges and make the paste - but it never came out as deep in colour. Looks lovely on her. Great shot.
@writingdays Thanks Rohini. I can't even imagine making the paste myself!! My neighbor across the street also has elaborate henna tattoos sometimes; she's from India! :)
@pflaume Yes! I love it ....and that it's temporary. If my daughter gets something permanent, which I do approve of when she's an adult, she must get a true artist to do it--not some run-of-the-mill artist. :)
