Today is mother's day in the US, and I have had the most amazing day ever. My husband downloaded Lightroom 5 (beta) for me on my computer, the kids made me eggs and chocolate dipped strawberries (with a lovely bouquet of flowers on the table), we played games on the Wii (since I'm a bit breathing impaired these days), and then they humored me in my request that we make a lazy outing to Roswell Area Park, where I could take photos of hopefully some geese or ducks and my lovely family.
Oh, the park was glorious! We not only found some geese, we found a mother and her four goslings--and butterflies, and turtles, and fountains, and hawks...I threw up the shutterspeed to as high as I was comfortable, and used AI Servo quite a bit! Oh, what a day. I took over 650 shots.
Also, I'm hoping in the next week to introduce a new challenge on 365 inspired by my children's willingness to do something my husband showed me on the internet...so stay tuned. I'll show a hint of it in my other photo for the day...it gets even better! http://365project.org/darylo/album3
@espyetta Amazing day. I hate that there are two Roswell Parks, East Roswell drives me nuts, especially when signing up for kids' activities....I have to go there for soccer two days a week and I just hate it. Too far! I love the Roswell Rec one. ;)
@espyetta Yes, it has great fields and a good rec center too, but it's not at all as beautiful in trails and such. I do get great photos there, though, when I'm out exercising and taking photos while my daughter plays soccer. But the traffic....I have to be there at 5:30 two days a week. Blagh.
@aglennc@taffy@anazad511@judis@pflaume Thanks so much everyone! I have to head into bed. Long day and I'm still recovering from bronchitis. LOTS of work until Wednesday, but after that, I'm back in the game. Look forward to visiting your shots tomorrow. D. :)
Wonderfully sweet gosling shot Daryl - sounds like you had a wonderful day - well deserved! : ) Congrats on reaching top 5 of camera settings challenge too! : )
@danette I'm hoping I'll fall in love with it. So far, much more easy to start than PSE, and I'll always have my PSE to learn too. I'm hoping my slower summer (fingers crossed) means I'll have time to actually watch some videos and learn how to use the program to its fullest!
So,sweet! Sounds like you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I'll be interested in your Lightroom Experience. For now, all I use is free editing, but would be willing to invest in Lightroom . . .Lovely shot!
This is truly wonderful! I love the light and that blue background really enhances all the detail in the feathers.
Whatever you did in Lightroom with it, the result is so natural and lovely... so bravo for you Daryl :)))
@jo13 I think we are on different hours so sometimes I have to go looking for people's photos depending on when they get in my home feed. Not perfect. I thought of you when I saw these little guys and the mom's head--I tried to get that "Jo Perfect" bird head shot, but not even close. NOT EVEN CLOSE! You are the master! :)
@darylo My asthma is acting up and more people are getting more allergies. And what about that crazy heat wave across the US? But no, there's no climate change, everything's normal. Yeah, right.
@twistergirl What climate change? ;) Georgia is going to be a dessert some day. I just know it. I'm building a garden this summer--more green, more green, more green. But bronchitis bites. Hope your asthma subsides. That bites too.
@darylo But I like dessert! Here's a link to a skit on the british show Smack the Pony called 'Would you Like a Little Dessert'" - hilarious and you'll feel better about yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7QO0njO_Ik
Whatever you did in Lightroom with it, the result is so natural and lovely... so bravo for you Daryl :)))
