Cleanliness is Next to...

Huge downpour just after arriving home from lake, and I'm afraid my plans for a moon shot may not materialize tonight for my day's shot. Out I went to catch raindrops and bugs. Caught this fly moving his front appendages together. I wish I could tell you just how small this sucker is! Help all you insect experts. Have no clue what he is. But if you view large, he has a nose too. I just assign human characteristics to bugs--I'm sure Nose is not the right term. What do I know? Next to... NOTHING. :)
Fav! I hate flies, but wow Daryl! You must give me some macro pointers!!

@irishmamacita10 it is so amazingly small too. Creepy. I agree. I'm praying the weather clears so I have a shot at the moon tonight.
June 24th, 2013
@irishmamacita10 Of course, I'll have to remove my macro clip for that. :(

Yes...I had very little luck last night as clouds were covering the horizon and I was going after a horizon shot. Maybe tonight but it looks very similar out there so far... Good luck to you!!

I humanize them too! And I saw your comment on my "katydid puppy" pic. Thanks for sending him my way and you taking on the fly! Hee hee
June 24th, 2013
@mariaostrowski Woohoo! Prepare to hold breath over and over again. Oxygen tank may be necessary soon. :)
June 24th, 2013
@espyetta We must have both been up at the Lake! Your shots today were great! Do you know what kind of fly this is? Now that I'm a "bugger" vs. a "birder," if you know of any specific online resources for me to look up my subjects, I'd greatly appreciate the knowledge!! :)

@danette @calm @princessleia Thanks very much! He was just wild looking and teeny tiny.

What an amazing shot! Superb when enlarged.
June 24th, 2013
This is incredible -- you are really amazing with the macro. Your bugs are so clear. This one looks a bit surreal!
June 24th, 2013
@steampowered Thanks Paul--I think I have to put "best viewed Large" more often with the macro shots. :)
June 24th, 2013
@taffy Aw, thanks for the encouragement Taffy! They are so surreal--and that's what I love about the lens and the effects it can create, but wow, I have to be so still, I'm afraid I'm going to pass out. And I have to take so many bad shots to get to the good one. :)
June 24th, 2013
He does have a nose Daryl! :-) great lil capture!
June 24th, 2013
Great macro shot!

FAV - I just love a good bug macro!!
June 24th, 2013
Wow this is amazing! Your shots have made me see bugs in a whole new way!
June 24th, 2013
Love it! And it's so funny—the last picture I looked at was @Jo13 's Gold-faced fly http://365project.org/jo13/365/2013-06-17, which I compared to my Silver-faced one http://365project.org/squamloon/365/2013-05-19. And now here you have a White-faced one. I wonder how many colors of face there are for flies...
June 24th, 2013
Amazing wow...incredible shot...you are an ace with that clip. Excellent! :)

@rennes You are so sweet! I swear, I can't keep up with anything now--I just love seeing your work--always inspiring. Hey, you have to see today's photo (there's a human face in my "bug" shot). I'm not kidding! :)
