Mourning Time by darylo

Mourning Time

Just what I needed coming back from a long weekend away, a late night plane arrival, and getting situated before heading in my office to work, work, work. The morning light was too good to pass up, so I made a French press, took out my work load to the back patio, fired up the computer, and had the camera handy.

Mourning doves are courting now--this one had such a lovely stance on the fence with the light coming in.

I also caught my best hummingbird shots today (with two at the feeder at one time), so we'll see what time I have to get it up here.

Thanks everyone for your comments on my Low Country Boil shots--the weekend was spectacular and I had a lovely time. I plan on loading a few more when I get the time.

I'm back at work and will be horrible at commenting, but I'll check in when I need a break!
Very nice tones and DOF in this shot. Love the detail on the wing of the dove.

Lovely shot. Surely this should be called a Morning Dove, and drop the sad-nuanced "u"

Lovely details and I really like how you captured his/her pose. They are so much fun to watch. We used to have 20+ at our feeders but over the last couple yrs. they have diminished considerably. That disturbs me.

What a great tone this is! It's also an interesting shot, but I really like the tone/lighting.

This has a dark feeling that matches its "mourning" reputation. I like the rim light on the left side.
