@amandal I waited until October to start Get-pushed, and I'm glad I did. I have done so much self-pushing to get there, so now I'm relying on others pushing me to the finish line. If somebody doesn't tell me what to do, you'll keep getting the same shots. I've enjoyed almost all of the challenges so far!
@darylo I did it for about a year and started hating my challenges. I got a water drop one and ended up chunking a rock in the lake and shooting that. I tried drop shots, but failed horribly. The break has been nice. I give myself waaaay less pressure this year.
@amandal I plan to do it until the end of the year I think. I figure 3 months is my limit. Year Two -- can't even think beyond getting to 365 right now. :)
@wind_of_the_sothern_sea@lucypics@nadaa Thanks y'all. I absolutely hate selfies but my apple plate with "light painting" on the side was just not working today with my phone light app. I have no vanity left. :)
Congratulations on getting to the run-off stage -- and GOOD LUCK at this stage so you can plan on putting your ideas into action! BTW, intriguing how you got those lights to stream out of your head!
@jyokota Thanks! I sat in a completely dark room (the downstairs half-bath). I arranged the focus on me with the remote timer set. I used my phone light app for the light. When the shutter released, I tried to keep my head perfectly still. While one hand held my face, the other held the phone light. In the first second, I illuminated my face with the phone (because it is so dark, some type of illumination has to occur - that is considered light painting as well); then I shifted the light behind my head (trying to stay perfectly still) moving the light up and down creating the streaks--all the while, I'm trying not to move because the long exposure would blur me. It would work better if someone did all of that for me while I sat still, but I was alone, in the dark, in the bathroom. A bit pathetic now that I think of it.
@darylo -- not pathetic at all! Shows creative thinking and imagination! Thanks for revealing your secrets on "how." Aren't you amazed at how much we keep learning to do on our cameras while on this project???
@darylo Wow Daryl, I just read how you did this in your response to Junko. I can't believe you could hold this still, do so many different things to create the photo, and have it turn out perfectly!! It's terrific! And good luck in the run-off. Congrats on making it to this point!
Fabulous Daryl - what a cool, fun idea - looks like you have had a lot of fun with the light painting - may have to give it a go before the end of the year! I could do with some ideas popping out of my head right now! : )
