Map of the Moon

Realizing that my 3rd year anniversary passed me by this month (3rd year in time only--I post when I can these days).

Tonight, I went to see my friend Tom in his new band Map of the Moon--they played at an Atlanta landmark venue, just down the way from where I grew up in midtown Atlanta. It was fun catching up with life-long friends and enjoying an exceptional show!

I'm pleased with the photos I took here because the light was low and I knew that my camera does not perform well in these situations. I cranked the ISO up as high as it would go and worked from Program mode. I also adjusted the light in camera and I used the faithful setting (but not sure that registers when I'm in RAW). Minimal editing was needed!

Felt good to have my camera in hand again.
great light and fabulous image - love live music - it is fun when you know them

A wonderful capture Daryl! Not sure I understand what you mean by adjusting the light in camera? Whatever you did worked perfectly! Your ears must be burning as I was trying out my new yellow camera bag with camera and lenses etc. It does feel very large and heavy. I am hoping I won't notice this when I am walking around with it on. Fav for this great shot!

There would be a lot of light on the stage so this is so good to get no sharp shadows on his face!

I'm rather staggered at the quality of this image at ISO 1600... the noise is not at all intrusive. Excellent work Daryl... and great to see you posting.

An excellent closer up shot!

@pamknowler it is a large pack. Mine had up to 15 pounds some days. Always wear the waste belt and try not to carry EVERYTHING. I practiced by taking long walks with it the month before leaving (and practicing flipping, changing lenses, and putting up tripod). But don't take gear outcthat you don't need each day. Taffy has the same pack now. @taffy I know you felt it was hard to flip with winter wardrobe; how is it working now?

@vignouse and I barely had to edit! Light was just awful. Now I'm going to check what I did! Thanks for visiting. So miss regularly posting and visiting everyone's photos

@pamknowler Honestly, I don’t know how these settings work, but I did the flash exposure at +2 (but I didn't use flash--and I don’t know how to use this setting).

Then I did white balance at A4 (don't even know what that means). The setting was "faithful " but does that even register with RAW? And finally, I used Program mode.

@darylo Thanks Daryl I found the bag quite balanced when I had it on - just testing it though. I didn't use it today as it was raining and I knew I wouldn't be changing lenses. I think some practice runs is a good idea - it also might help with my fitness!! LOL!! Many thanks.
I must check out my camera for your settings - not heard of "faithful". I am just very impressed by the quality of your shots handheld and no flash.

Truly a wonderful concert shot. Glad you are enjoying your camera.

I know shooting at concerts is not easy, the lighting is hard to deal with...but I am impressed with the quality of this shot. Great work!
