Saw this at an estate sale and thought people don't use this item anymore. We use computer keyboards.
I took a typing and shorthand class in high school. A week into shorthand they cancelled the class due to not enough participation. How I wish for the Good Ole Days right now!!

heheee... I also learned to type on one, probably older than this one. it was twice the size, something humongous. But did the job. When i got one of these, with it;s own box with a handle, I felt very modern and fancy. I still have the small one up in the attic. I planned to do something with it, but it went back to the attic, because I had no inspiration what to type.
Like Moni, I, too, learned on a beast of a machine! It was super fun and nostalgia sets in when I see these old things. ...but I can certainly type much faster on a keyboard!
This takes me back many years. Whilst at college there was a rhythmical clicking coming from the classrooms for the secretarial course. My typing skills are non existent. A one finger prod!
That's a nice one. Shorthand. I tried it. I spent too much time trying to remember how to "draw" the sounds and got too far behind. Good thing I didn't need it for may career.
I had one of these and wish I still had it! I went to a “commercial” high school where the main subjects were shorthand and typing, but that was way back in the early ‘70’s.
