Seaside No. 1 by deborahsimmerman

Seaside No. 1

I took the train to Manchester-by-the-Sea for an architectural walk sponsored by the Cape Ann Museum. Manchester is a village about thirty miles north of Boston.

I love architecture walks, and we saw interesting buildings and houses of widely differing periods. One of my favorites was "Seaside No. 1," which I learned was a firehouse built in 1885. It had to be replaced by a larger firehouse soon thereafter, and the building was used for many purposes over the years. Now it's owned by the Manchester Historical Museum down the street.

We peered in the front windows, and there were two shiny red antique fire engines inside.

I like the touch of autumn on the tree, but it's deceptive as it's been hot so far in September and I fear autumn is some way off.
So typically New England - beautiful building in such wonderfully kept condition.
