The Bridge of Flowers by deborahsimmerman

The Bridge of Flowers

Today the program in New Hampshire ended, and I drove west through northern Massachusetts for the next part of my trip. Along the way I stopped in Shelburne Falls, a village I've liked for many years.

This is a former trolley bridge over the Deerfield River. In 1929, when it was no longer in use and was an eyesore, the local Women's Club transformed it by planting flowers along the sides. Ever since, it has been the famous "Bridge of Flowers," a pedestrian garden bridge.
What a nice story, lovely shot!
