Alium just opening by deborahsimmerman

Alium just opening

On the way back from the matinee at the ballet, where I saw Sleeping Beauty, I walked through the Public Garden. It was good to walk in the cool, brisk air after sitting for three hours.

Much had changed in the few days since I was in the Public Garden. The cherry and apple blossoms were gone by as well as many of the tulips. Some later tulip varieties were out, including beds of orange tulips (which seem to be very popular this year), some yellow and white beds, and some dark purple, almost black ones. There are large beds of aliums near the George Washington statue which are mostly still closed buds. This particular one was more advanced. I love aliums, as I always love purple and green together, and I'll be back to see them when they all open up.
Beautiful!
