Broke my heart this morning when I got to work at 5:30. Mr.
and Mrs. Bird were perched on top of the light can. I assume they were trying to stay warm while they looked longingly across the pitched roof to where their home (nest) used to be. The Trustees knocked it down yesterday, before they laid their eggs, because the birds built it (for the 2nd year in a row) right over the church's front door and they kept pooping on the door handles and making a mess of the sidewalk. I feel badly for them. All that work and now nothing to show for it. :(
